Holehird Gardens



Leased by the Lakeland Horticultural society, the gardens are open to the public Year round. Kept entirely by volunteers the gardens provide a beautiful setting to spend a quiet afternoon among the plants in any season.

Levens Hall & Gardens



Levens Hall is an Elizabethan mansion built around a 13thC Pele tower : world famous topiary gardens, fountain garden and buttery, licensed restaurant and gift shop.

There is a living willow labrynth; children's play area in the historic topiary garden with challenging climbing and slides for children under 12 years and picnic tables for families.

Hutton in the Forest



Historic medieval pele tower with substantial 17th, 18th and 19thC additions. Fine collections of furniture, ceramics, tapestry and portraits and is still a private residence. Walk around the wonderful walled garden which are still surrounded by a medieval forest, you could spend all day at this historic house.

There are varied outdoor summer events - Plant and Food Fair, open air Shakespeare, Potfest in the Park and Horse Trials.

Lakes Aquarium

Lakeland Motor Museum



The fascinating Lakeland Motor Museum nestles in the picturesque Leven Valley, at Backbarrow, close to the southern tip of Lake Windermere.

A diverse and unique road transport collection of some 30,000 exhibits assembled over a period of almost 50 years is thoughtfully displayed alongside many non-motoring additions, in a beautiful riverside setting.

Whinlatter Go Ape!

Skelwith Force - The River Brathay



The cottage is located on the banks of the river Brathay with its own private access and fishing rights.

The stretches of the Brathay around Clappersgate and Skelwith Force are popular with canoeists.
